This is in fact an ethic that has been brought on by marketers alike, and in turn caused our younger generations to mimic what is portrayed in ads.
One of the advertisements that Tom Ford has marketed portrays a naked woman grabbing a finely dressed man's genitalia, while the man holds a beer and cigar (Venus Buzz). The reactions that ensue from Tom Ford's ads have much more lying underneath them than what the casual observer might note, and are actually part of a grand marketing technique. The viewer who feels shock or disgust is the excluded audience of the ad. The genius thing about this tactic is that even the excluded audience is not left out of helping Tom Ford spread the word of their company. Shock and disgust is generally talked about among peers, which then just widens the horizons with how far the advertisement will reach. With regard to the viewer, most likely male, who has been inspired with arousal and fantasies; these viewers are the intended audience. They are truly being caught off guard by the subliminal message of getting exactly what is wanted, and not a second later than they want it. The two key points that Tom Ford touches in his ads are sexual gratification, or any gratification for that matter, and power. Gratification in any sense is almost certainly a man's favorite ego booster, especially when it involves money, sex, and power. The idea of instantaneous gratification is strongly portrayed in this ad by embodying the scene of a beautiful naked woman grabbing the finely dressed man's genitalia.
