Junior Service Learning Project

During this Junior Service Learning Project, I have helped a lot and gain some more opportunities and skills that could help me achieve higher goals in the future that I wouldn't of been able to have before. When I first found out about this project, I didn't have any clue what to do or who to help. I asked my peers and my family for advice and what would suit me best, but after a while of searching around I came to a conclusion that who better to help than my church. I go to it every Sunday and Wednesday, so it just felt right to me. I came to my pastor in reach for help and it turns out they could use all the hands they could get. I was willing to do anything to help out the church that I loved. Over about 5 weeks, I helped out the church. I did anything and everything, I went to all the people I could to help unbox, move, build, etc. My church wasn't a ordinary church, it didn't have a permanent location. So every Sunday and Wednesday, we had to completely set up everything before service and take it down right after. It seemed like a huge task, but it was all worth it to see the smile on all the people's face every time they enter the building. The joy the people showed to come to the church was astonishing. The setting up of the signs, the tables, the auditorium, and the lights was all worth it when you really see how big of a change you've really made. I always was thanked for what I've done and how much I've helped. The Church couldn't have been a better place to be. .
I had to wake up at 5:00am every Sunday to help out, to give a hand and help out a community, but so did everyone else that helped out. We all were tired and exhausted, but we all still managed to have a smile on our face because we knew that this is where we wanted to be. Without all the volunteers we had, the church we went to wouldn't be much. Us volunteers are the ones who build the church and that's what we believe God intended.
