Eating Habits of Americans

Adelle Davis said that "she believed that nearly every health problem could be solved through nutrition" So with that being said eating a healthy well balanced diet can help the health of most people. Eating healthier can reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer, and other various health conditions. The Center for Disease control says that 1 in 4 people eat some sort of fast food a day, with that being said 20% of all American meals are eaten in the car. Eating in the car can be replaced with eating a healthy well-balanced meal around a table with family, or friends. Some say that eating healthy is too expensive, but what is not realized is that there are many cheap and still healthy alternatives to most healthy foods, such as, growing your own vegetables, or buying an off brand of healthy food. Also others say that cooking healthy is a lot harder than cooking out of a box, but again what is not realized is that there are several 30-minute healthy recipes. The United States Depart of Agriculture also states "there are vegetables that can be grown all year around in all climates of weather" Furthermore there are no excuses to certain healthy foods not being in season, and healthy food being to hard to cook. With all this being said there are many solutions to having a healthier lifestyle, just eating meals around a table, and keeping a well balanced diet can improve your whole life.
As the population increases the demand for food also increases. One of the many poor qualities of American eating habits is that there is an excessive amount of food going to waste for no reason at all. In America alone 31 percent of the available food supply at the retail and consumer levels in 2010 went uneaten (CDC). Timothy Jones from University of Arizona researched that not only half of the food produced in America was discarded because it went out of date before sold or cooked.
