The Root of Nightmares

The purpose of this survey is to figure out what causes nightmares, the effect of nightmares on people, and what they do to prevent them. There is constant research on this subject and so far there hasn't been any sure cures to nightmares and I doubt there will be, but there might be an influence of nightmares discovered if this research is continued. We need to understand that not everyone has a problem with nightmares, but there are people out there that do have these problems and they need to be helped and taken care of. Most people just have a bad dream once in a month or two, so they don't know what kind of impact chronic nightmares can have on a person's life. This problem is ignored, and not many people even know it is a problem, but we need to make it known and do as much as we can to help those that need it. .
Conducting a survey was the best research method because it brings in a lot of information very quickly from a lot of people. Observations could have taken a lot longer and the results and data collected would have either been the same or possibly worse. I hope to learn more about dreams and nightmares and I could also help myself deal with my nightmares, and maybe other people if they really need it. I know a few people that have had chronic nightmares so this topic is interesting to me.
             Background.
For my field work I conducted a survey on nightmares. This survey directed to people of all ages and all kinds, it didn't matter if they were a male or female, young or old. It was directed towards everyone. Also it is not specific for a reason. That reason is because I needed different kinds of people, of different demographics to take it so I could gather information on how nightmares affect every type of person or how an adult deals with a nightmare compared to a pre-teen. The people that took this survey were from all ages and both male and female. I had a total of one hundred and three surveys.
