The Truth of Cigarette Advertising

 

            The smoking tobacco advertisements that we see today can be very misleading. Because of the negative and positive ways people choose to advertise smoking; it can be very hard to understand the true facts. If you're unfamiliar with smoking tobacco, the advertisements can fool you. Smoking cigarettes can be very harmful to a person health and are very addictive. The media has been telling us what to buy since the beginning of the printing press. The only issue now is that companies are trying to target definite groups that are more probable to buy their products. The most announced of these huge companies are the people of the tobacco production. Now ask yourself this. "What company targets mostly underage kids?" The fist thought to mind would be the tobacco industry. They have been blamed for intentionally targeting adolescents for years now. .
             Since the beginning, smoking tobacco has been advertised as a fun time. Every advertisement made about cigarettes has been made with humor, enjoyment, looks, and sophistication. Of course cigarette companies want to make a lot of business, but does that mean they have to be honest? If you have never smoked a cigarette before and only knew about the product from advertisements, you would think what they say is true. Well to be honest with you, smoking cigarettes is not as glamorous and awesome as they make them out to be. There are many commercials on television that have the right facts on smoking tobacco. Now it may not be exactly what you wanted to hear or see, but the information is clearer. Tobacco smoke contains chemicals that are harmful to both smokers and nonsmokers. What people do not know is that among the two hundred and fifty chemicals in tobacco smoke, at least sixty nine can cause cancer. The advertisement to the right is a perfect example of what smoking tobacco can lead to. Of course tobacco companies try their best to hide the negative views and outlooks on smoking tobacco but luckily, there are people out there who are willing to share their story to prove a point.
