Critique on Bush's

When examining any form of text, not only is it necessary for the audience to inform themselves on the facts and issues of the subject at interest, but it is also imperative to maintain a structure and system of judgment to base their opinions and conclusion upon. Within the examination of President Bush's "Operation Iraqi Freedom- speech, the following pages outline the background of Bush's decision to enter into war with Iraq, a characterization of Bush himself, and the composition of his audience. More importantly, by imposing a judgmental structure upon Bush's strategic and stylistic mode of expression, his use of validated logical argument, and his use of dialectical ethics, the following pages will demonstrate how, overall, Bush presented a compelling argument for entering into war with Iraq.
On March 19, 2003 at 10:16 P.M. EST, President George W. Bush, in a televised announcement from the Oval Office, formally announced the United States' official declaration of war with Iraq after Sadaam Hussein refused to meet Bush's demands to evacuate Iraq and his position as its leader. There were indeed several issues that led to Bush's decision and speech. For previous decades, Iraq was proven to being a dangerous threat to not only nations around the world, but to its own people. Mueller states that "Iraq has a long record of active support for international terrorist groups. Indeed it apparently has staged terrorist attacks of its own directly against the U. S. I am speaking of Iraq's likely involvement in the attempted assassination of former President Bush in Kuwait in 1993."" (p.48) The former President Bush battled with Sadaam Hussein years before in his own presidency, and for many of the same reasons: the possession of biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, the threat of global energy supply, and the genocidal and abusive treatment of his citizens. .
However, while conditions were by no means optimal within Iraq following the Persian Gulf War, the United States held a tolerable attitude.
