Aristotle and Views of God

However the person who believes in God and afterlife knows that when they die there will be no more sadness and suffering because if God created all beings and God is Happy, then they will be happy as well in the afterlife. "Consequently that which is supreme good is supremely the end of all. Now there is but one supreme good, namely God." (Saint Aquinas pg. 80). The only contradiction to Aquinas views are that, if all beings believe in God and an afterlife and after death we go to heaven or hell. Then if I don't believe in God where does my body and soul go after death? Immanuel Kant believed that a man cannot will such an end without believing that moral actions can successfully achieve such an end. That what you believe in ultimately plays a role in how happy you are. He also believed that since God created us all and God is good, then every being that God created is good. Contradictions to that theory is, that If we are all good there would be no crime or violence in the world, and if we believe in God and an afterlife there would be no need for confessions and going to church to be forgiven for your sins. If we believed in those views there would be no churches or police officers because everyone would be peaceful and happy living virtuous lives. Aquinas believed that God is the ruler of all and the governor of all things in God, and that since God is governed by none then he should control all order and all are subject to divine providence. These principles are all great guidelines to live by and I can definitely see the differences in the views of both philosophers, I plan to argue that without the belief in God and an afterlife, your life is much shorter and has more consequences based off of your decisions and choices that you make. Saint Augustine says "By contrast, the citizens of the City of God form a mystical and unanimous society of saints in heaven and believers on Earth".
