Human Resources and Intangible Assets

Ā

To participate in a union can be a positive step towards ensuring my rights are known and addressed by my employer. I am currently a member of the military and do not have a union available. There are proper policies in place that I can use if I every have an issue in which I am not being treated fairly. If I take on a job position outside of the military, I may join a union because; I want to do everything in my power to ensure I can to improve my chances of growth within the company. I believe that being a part of a larger group can increase my chances of doing this. .
During my human resource management course here at Ashford, I learned that EEO is an aspect of many different stages of human resource processes. It is a part of the job design, recruitment, selection, performance appraisal, training and development, compensation, and benefits (Youssef, 2012, ch. 1.5). In week two we developed a job description that had to adhere to the EEOC guidelines. For me, this brought to light the government's role in protecting its citizen's rights. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was created by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and has evolved since (EEOC.gov, n.d.). I understand now that the government's rules and regulations are the basis for each company's EEO policies. .
Human Resources Planning, Recruitment And Selection.
Human resources planning, recruitment and selection is the process in which HRM enables the company to hire and maintain an effective and committed staff. The company's people are its most important asset. I have worked with people that love their job and would do literally anything for the people they worked for. In the military I have seen Commanding Officers (C.O.) come and go while I stayed at the same unit. In one instance, we had a C.O. that every person loved working for and I personally stayed late or came in early any time it was needed to make sure that I was doing my part.
