g.: ska, pop, R 'n B and hip hop) makes it one of the versatile instruments to date. I will end the introduction with a quote by Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) (Wade-Matthews, M and Thompson, W).
"The quality of the tone of the trumpet is noble and brilliant" – Hector Berlioz.
             DISCUSSION.
             Aesthetics .
The trumpet is a brass instrument which is approximately 1.4m in tube length. The tubing is folded twice and forms a small rectangular shape that has a length of roughly 33 cm (measurement from author). A pipe extends from one side of the shape which will hold the mouthpiece. An "expansive opening", more commonly known as the bell, extends from the opposite side to the pipe that will hold the mouth piece. The centre of the trumpet is the area in which the valves are usually found, as well as extra tubing that controls tuning and pitch. There is often dispute of whether the trumpet is conical or cylindrical, but research and professional observation suggests that the trumpet is indeed conical, but does feature cylindrical piping but not enough to deem it a cylindrical instrument (Internet 7). Trumpets are usually made of brass and then either lacquered or plated with silver, nickel or in extremely rare cases, gold. Other known metals to construct trumpets from is German silver (nickel silver, a copper alloy with nickel and zinc (Internet 3)), copper, silver and once again gold, but only in very rare cases.
Trumpets are made in a variety of ways. The more beginner trumpets are made using machinery and many compromises which allows them to be sold cheaply. More professional trumpeters will buy trumpets that are not solely produced for business purposes. They are produced with more care and precision, giving the trumpet a better sound and tone (Internet 4).
             History .
The earliest metal trumpets, which have been discovered thus far, date back to at least 1500 BC and possibly earlier.
