As she thrashed her head to the side, a horrifying sight caught her eyes. It was Ben, her final companion on the boat, nailed to the door with a spear from her own gun. .
She was consumed with an overwhelming sense of anger that enabled her to experience strength, well beyond her capabilities. The light grip she had on the spear gun now became stronger and at last able to gasp for air, but still with Huey's hands clutching at her neck, she pushed the gun hard up against his chest and fired. His body and his grip breaking off her as if in slow motion. Pain flickered across his face as he slowly fell to the ground. Although it was obvious Huey was not going to cause her any more trouble, she reloaded the gun and fired an arrow straight through his forehead. His eyes remained open as the stream of dark blood emerged out the hole, slowly running down his face. This time it was certain he was dead. .
Staring at his dead body lying motionless on the cold wooden floor Rae, with her back still firmly against the wall, began to slide down to the floor. Her face became lost of all emotion and every muscle in her body became limp. She fell into a trance like state, an unnatural sleep and stared blankly out of the shimmering porthole. A flash of lightning, and a crack of thunder disturbed the deadly calm in the room. Rae was forced back to reality with a start and with a sharp realisation, shouted out, "John!".
Rae pick up her tiny battered body from the cold timber floor boards and headed up on deck. Her courageous efforts under the intense circumstances were spurred on by the notion that her husband would be found unscathed. The need to find him was immense, as he was all she had left.
The over powering wind squall tossed the tiny yacht and large treacherous waves were breaking over the deck. Rae turned the boat around and set of in search of John, as at this point he was her only hope. Eventually the storm abated.
