It was happened when the Americans tried to block up Peter McQueen and his Red Sticks warriors who were on their way back from Florida ("Battle of Burnt Corn.") The Americans attacked them in the evening then the Red Sticks run away but they were still watching the Americans stealing their goods. The Red Sticks were observing the Americans from the swamps near the area, and when the Americans were unguarded, they went to attack the Americans, which resulted the victory for the Red Sticks warriors. In this battle, there was prove that Red Sticks were more ready to have battle with the Americans and this was also improvement in the native's troops since a long time. The improvements also happen because of the help from British and Spanish. After this, more battle happened between the Red Sticks and the United States. The next big one was the Fort Mims Massacre.
On August 30th, 1813 the attack occurred at the Fort Mims where many people including the Lower Creek and the white settlers seek for refuge. The Fort Mims became refuge because of the problem within the Creeks in the native's land and people had to move there. The Red Sticks started their attack at noon and the attack lasted for two hours between two parties. Around 3 pm, the second attack happened because of a desire to retaliate by destroying the mixed-blood Creek who betray the Red Sticks ("Fort Mims Massacre.") This second battle was the most severe one because almost all of the defenders on the United States were killed including women, children, as well as the white settlers. The Red Sticks captured those who survived and also took the slaves of the white settlers. Later, the victory of the Red Sticks caused panic in the Southeastern border and a lot of settlers request for government to do something about this. Another victory for the Red Sticks and this was the biggest accomplishment for the natives.
