Book Banning - The Perks of Being a Wallflower

S. Constitution. Ratified in 1791 as part of the Bill of Rights, prohibiting Congress from interfering with freedom of religion, speech, assembly, or petition (Dictionary.com.). What this means is that you have the right to be yourself and stand up for what you believe. Which too many others, including teachers, agree with the term that when you ban books it's like banning our freedom to speech, assembly and to press. Not only is this considered as unconstitutional, it's also unfair to the author's audience. The excuse of "banned" or "challenged" is just an attempt to remove material from the curriculum or library's now restricting the access of others from educating themselves on life and the world. When banning a book, you are removing resourceful materials inside classrooms or within life. Not only are these types of books helpful but also fun and gives students and others that chance to express themselves and challenge their minds. Now due to the banning of certain books 'Challenging your mind' does not simply involve a person expressing a point of view. Now it's just blank thinking and no real challenges being thrown at the students. Due to the commitment of librarians, teachers, parents, students and other concerned citizens, most challenges tend to end up unsuccessful. Which include most of the materials that are retained in the school curriculum or library collection. These way students are still able to gain a better ability of discernment and not challenge themselves making classwork easier than it should be. Discernment is the quality of being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure. I believe that this is a very important skill, because it is always good to know and understand what you are reading or learning about. However achieving this, without challenging ones self isn't exactly fair to everyone. My book has been banned 11 times throughout the past from September 21st-27th between 2003 and 2014.
