Analysis of the Kid - Charlie Chaplin

The women had to animate through body language and facial expressions that she was fighting between keeping the baby and giving him away. With that being said you had to see the sadness and desperation on the woman's face to give you the idea that she was struggling with her decision whether to leave the child or keep him. When it comes to the Tramp, you notice that he is poor because of his attire and where he lives. His body language and facial expressions give you the idea that he is a little bit eccentric. You notice that it seems that he is uneducated and suggests that he is pleased with what little he has. You perceive that he is willing to do anything to keep the child with him, and do what he has to do supply them both with what they need to survive. The child, whom the Tramp named John, acted; as he was very dependent on the Tramp in order to survive. You get the perception that he is sweet and innocent in all this because he is just a child. His facial expressions tell you that he does things to make the Tramp happy because he is taking care of him and providing for him. One example of this is when the Tramp and the child are in their home, the Tramp is still asleep and the child is making him pancakes. You can see that the Tramp is happy by his facial expressions and body language. The child looks up to him and does not really perceive the Tramp as a father figure but more of a motherly figure. .
The production design and costumes played a huge role in how the film was portrayed. Without these things, this motion picture would not have come together the way it did. In the beginning of the silent film the concept you notice is the hospital that the women is coming out of. You can see that the name of the hospital is Charity Hospital, and just the name gives you the notion that this woman was desperate. The woman's attire gives you the idea that she is not penniless. She is very well groomed and her ensemble is classy.
