Canadian Natural Resources

For many people, Canada is a very good country because it has a good environment, but the forestry industry in Canada can be described as a mismanagement of natural resources. First of all, "Fall downs" creates a decrease in size and quality over the second and third generation of replanted forests because when one tree falls down it will turn into a domino effect which the other trees surrounding it will react to it, therefore it is not healthy for the wood in the forests. There are 4 types of methods of forestry. First is Clear Cutting, which use a saw that looks like a pizza cutter and then cut down an area of all of its trees at one time. The second method is Strip Logging which just cuts down the trees leaving the roots and the bottom of the tree which may lead to erosion. The third method is Shelterwood Cutting and its used in an area of trees that are generally the same age. The last method is Selection Cutting where its used for different types of trees and various of ages and helps remove diseased trees. Clear cutting is the fastest way for companies and selection cutting is the best for forests but takes a long time which is less efficient for companies. The damages that forestry cause are the lost of animal shelter, erosion, not healthy for the woods and etc. Referring back to the movie "The Lorax". When the character Once-ler made the product called "thneed" out of trees, and he made profit from that. Then he got carried away, that he cut down all the trees and stole the animals habitat, and the beautiful forest turned dead, when he looked back he realized what a big mistake had made. The lost of oxygen and animals are the sacrifice for thneed which is not worth it. Replanting is not occurring at a fast enough rate to replace the trees being cut down. This is also the reason why Canadians mistreat forest resources. Companies such as R Grein Timber Co Ltd, Bernie McGlynn Lumber would have to cut down trees for products that Canadian use daily such as paper.
