Poverty and World Problems

 

Little did you know that 80 percent of the world population lives on nearly two dollars a day. Imagine what saving two dollars a day could do to the ones who are really in need, even saving pocket change could be a start to impact others lives. Young children and adults are born into poverty, and poverty kills the innocent ones and is just as bad as murder if not acted on. So why wait to make the difference?.
             Many of us have a life of luxury and spend money as we please. Something that America needs to improve on in the future is "In the near or even medium-term future, a world in which it is normal for the wealthy Americans to give the bulk of their wealth to strangers" (Singer 907). The majority of children in third world countries need others to make an impact on their lives. Volunteering could be the first step in making a difference in someone's life. A countless number of us don't have a whole lot of money to donate but we can substitute our lack of income with donating our time. We can impact the lives of numerous children in third world countries by just donating our time and energy volunteering which can be both easy and rewarding at the end of the day. The opportunity of volunteering in any aspect of the child's life; whether it is playing games, teaching or helping the children with homework, or even simply just share your time. All of the experience and time you give them will make a huge difference in their day-to-day lives. .
             Today we could start donating to make a change in the world. Any amount big or small could make an enormous difference in a child's life. Every payday we look at our paychecks, some with relief of a source of income and others just another day in paradise. The majority of us take advantage of our money, whether it is wasted on clothes we don't need, fast food, or things that are just not necessary in our everyday lives. A philosophy breakdown in dollars, "An american household with an income of $50,000 spends around $30,000 on necessities", which means the other $20,000 spent on non necessities (Singer 908).
