Adolf Hitler and the Abuse of Power

At a young age, Hitler had a need for power.
"Individuals with a high need for power get satisfaction from influencing others. They look for positions where they can influence others. They are good at building trusting relationships and they can be outspoken and forceful. They like to see signs of their authority and status and like others to defer to them". (PSU, 2012) This makes perfect sense because Hitler created the Nazi regime with swastika symbols that they would all wear on their uniforms, as well as marches showing that they supported him, and how they represented the power of Hitler. Power of Influence is a very scary thing, it can be used for good as other great leaders have used it, but in Hitler's case it was used for his evil and selfish beliefs, which was the reason that many people followed him and the reason that many people died. Hitler used the fact that Germany was still in major need of recovery from World War One as an advantage to rise to power. When he was first brought to power, he used his power of influence again. He did everything fairly. Everyone voted him to power. "In 1933 Germany was Democracy. Germany had fair elections; nobody had their right to vote abused; there were numerous parties to vote for etc" (History Learning Site). But because he was a very smart man, and was a master of manipulation, he won over the voter's thoughts and minds, which caused him to be elected to power. He then turned Germany into his very own dictatorship. Not only did his men trust him and believe in him, many people including Jews trusted him and looked to him as their leader, not knowing that he would deceive them. He would tell them tales and lies of bringing them to a "better place" where "all things would be good" with better living conditions, only to be brought to their deaths or long life of working as slaves.
His abuse of power not only helped him during World War Two, but was also his major downfall and the reason he lost himself the war.
