Low family income can affect children's cognitive growth and development of their ability to learn. These impedes can contribute to behavioral, social and emotional problems which can cause and exacerbate poor child health, ("Tackling child poverty", 2010). These children are most likely to experience negative effect which is associated with difficulties later in their life like dropping out of school, poor adolescents in early stages and poor employment outcome. Stable, nurturing and enriching environment in the early stages helps create a study foundation for the later productivity of the children. Children need proper care to thrive and grow into healthy and productive adults by providing high-quality health, adequate housing, early learning programs and enriching activities to face the chronic poverty level in the society, (Hof Wallace, n.d.). .
In addition to the harmful consequences for the children, high economic hardship will increase in Queens New York in lost productivity of labor force and spending on health care and criminal justice system. Economic hardship limits children's potential and hinders the state's ability to compete in global economy. It's the best interest of the state to see that caring for the children can rejuvenate the dreams of the state and act as an ideal fundamental for the collective identity to be restored, ("Child Care in Practice," 2012).
Putting the Plan into Action.
A considerable research work has been devoted to answering this question. We all know that the children need to succeed in their life by early nurturing to develop into healthy and productive adults. The challenge before us is translating this idea into workable policy solution that is appropriate for the Queens New York local government.
In conjunction with the local representative, the bill was introduced in the house and together with his colleagues discussed the need of free child care for parents with two children by focusing specific policy strategies including strengthening the bargaining power of the parents in workplaces, expanding the earned income tax credit for the parents, and increasing the minimum wage and indexing it to inflation.
