Ten years ago, the rural towns were deserted, and their economic feasibility was not recognized by any one. Nevertheless, with the growth of the population and key elements associated with economic control, the need to have the rural town planning has risen with huge demand. The planning in the rural town just as the planning of big town is meant to control the different economic activities, which take place (In Rega, 2014). The planning ensures that the different activities have designated areas where they take place in an orderly manner. Also, the planning of these towns also helps to enhance the infrastructures and the rural town access to the developers and investors. Since the areas are turning to be the hub and main points for many economic activities, their planning has turned to be an area of focus for many people.
The economic development topic is growing to be a hot topic in the current structures and the contributors of it as well. Many people tend to ignore the contribution of the rural town as part of the economic development and view the town as a burden. Nevertheless, the contribution, which is being attained due to the proper rural town planning, is great and a great contribution to the economy of the concerned countries (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2013). The small rural towns have been for long seen as service centers and retailing centers only, but the wide growth and involvement of the rural town planning is changing this perception each day. Besides, these rural towns have been viewed by many people as recreational and retirement destination is meaning that they lack the economic capability to influence the economy. Moreover, the culture influence and lack of key development structures make a large number of people to view that the rural town lacks the required measure to dictate the flow of the economic status (Boserup, Tan & Toulmin, 2013).
