Motor cars are not a danger to our society

The car also plays other important roles in the economy. This was especially noticeable after the Second World War, when cars began to be manufactured on a mass production scale. This caused a rise in employment and a rise in wages, overall a brilliant time for the economy. It also allowed for the relocation of the working class after the war and began to act as the removal of man's restrictions, allowing for a greater freedom of choice. Now it is up to the individual to choose a place of work, or a school for their child, rather than the local comprehensive.
How can somebody say that the car has a damaging effect on society? Even nowadays we could not survive without it. How would you get to school each day; no buses, no car, no coach? You are in a hurry, how are you going to move around? However, the most important question is: "How are the emergency services going to put out fires, arrest criminals or save lives?- Some might say that although these questions are important, the abolition of the car will save the lives of the many people who die each year on the road. However, in the UK, according to the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, road deaths have been decreasing, In fact, in 1988, there were 5,230 road deaths. Every year since then the number has been falling, to the latest figure of 3,581 in 1998. This is because cars are increasing their safety mechanism, involving brakes, steering control and protection of the passengers with airbags, meaning that soon the number of deaths will be so low that the numbers will be insignificant. That is to say insignificant compared to other causes of death, rather than the deaths being insignificant. Another issue is that not all deaths on the road involve cars. In fact, in comparison with the number of people using this type of vehicle, motorcyclists are at the most risk, followed by pedestrians and cyclists.
