             What is one choice a person can make that can literally save his or her life, help the environment, and have a kinder heart? Cut out the red meat from the everyday diet. Not eating red meat is a major advantage to the environment. Also, there are generous health benefits to not eating red meat. Finally, there are good ethics in non-red meat eaters. .
             By eating red meat, the environment is at a loss. Cattle are fed soybeans, corn, and other grains that could actually be directly eaten by humans. If we feed a cow 16 pounds of grain, only one pound of meat becomes the meat people can eat. The other 15 pounds is wasted. Most farms in America are growing food for animals, instead of growing food for humans. This results in a loss of trees for the creation of farms for animal food. Thus, land is taken away from the wildlife. Also, erosion is caused, topsoil is lost, and the groundwater is wasted. Overuse of pesticides is also a common problem, harmful to the land. Factory farms where animals are raised, produce more sewage than humans. This is a huge source to pollution in our waterways. .
             Believe it or not, cutting out red meat from one's diet has breathtaking health benefits. In all, people have less heart attacks, strokes, cancers, atherosclerosis, arteriosclerosis, and hypertension. When we eliminate meat from our diets and add antioxidants from eating more plants, it does wonders for the body. People who eat red meat everyday have three times the risk of dying from a heart attack than someone who does not eat red meat. By not eating red meat, a person's intake of saturated fat and cholesterol are much less. These are the two ingredients in the making of a heart attack. Also, a person who cuts the red meat from his or her diet will rarely ever succumb to crippling and the debilitating effects of osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. People will also have fewer allergies since red meats are a hyperallergenic food.
