The Study of Attention Deficit Disorder

             Abstract.
Attention deficit hyperactive disorder is a neurobiological condition characterized by developmentally inappropriate level of attention, concentration, activity, distractibility, and impulsivity. While doing this research I found that a professional must properly diagnose you. Not everyone who that is overly, hyperactive, inattentive, or impulsive has an attention disorder. Professional make their diagnosis by determining if the behavior the person is exhibiting is long -term; or is it just a response to a temporary situation. The behavior the person exhibits must create a real handicap in at least two areas of a person's life such as school, home, work, or social settings. The present study was designed to investigate what made my often-impulsive childhood friend Jaroddo run into the street with cars. No matter how many times his mother explained the danger. As a result he was hit by an oncoming car, which caused him to be paralyzed from the waste down. For decades, medications have been used to treat the symptoms of ADHD. Three medications in the class of drugs known as stimulants seem to be the most effective in both children and adults. These are methylphenidate (Ritalin), dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine or Dextrostat), and pemoline (Cylert). For many people, these medicines dramatically reduce their hyperactivity and improve their ability to focus, work, and learn.

             Hyperactive Disorder.
ADHD, once called hyperkinesias or minimal brain dysfunction, is one of the most common mental disorders among children. It affects 3 to 5 percent of all children, perhaps as many as 2 million American children. Two to three times more boys than girls are affected. On the average, at least one child in every classroom in the United States needs help for the disorder. ADHD often continues into adolescence and adulthood, and can cause a lifetime of frustrated dreams and emotional pain.
