The self & society

These discussions, without any bias, will be concluded in the last paragraph of this evaluation.
Freud initially attempted to subdivide the mind of man purely in terms of different levels of consciousness, emphasizing the unconscious. Though he abandoned that theory in favor of his three part division of the id, ego and superego, he held that the different functions of the mind operated at different levels. Freud introduced the Psychosexual Stages of Development which suggested personality development centered on the effects of the sexual pleasure drive on the individuals psyche. Stages included: the genital stage; the anal stage; the oral stage. His general concern was how the Voice of Biology and the Voice of Culture interacted as a "pull" function, influencing his natural state to that of society. Overall Freud centered his theories on the "psyche" of man and made interesting suggestions on how the mind of each man is developed.
Freud talks about how through various stages of man's youth the mind develops. These developments form the unconscious state of mind which unknowingly influences your everyday activities. Each manager will have a differentiated state of mind and will act upon this unconsciously. .
Gosling and Mintzberg stated that some of the managers they observed over concentrated more on, for example, the action mind-set. I believe this over concentration strongly has to do with the psyche of the person. His inner self has been developed to an extent that he will unknowingly proceeds with more action than reflection. An example of this would be to consider a person who lacked the attention required in the development stages by a parent and later, in an unconscious reaction to this, seeks too much attention from his fellow subordinates (i.e. over concentrates on the collaborative mind-set).
Following on from this, Gosling and Mintzberg suggest an appropriate amount channeled to each mind-set in order to be efficient.
