Sex On TV

We need to get together petitions showing that there are enough people concerned about what our youth is being shown. The first step is to get our point to the writers and directors through sending them mail about our concerns with the petitions showing how many people are concerned. Next we can start taking steps ourselves. I believe that there are enough people that support my claim and that we would have sufficient funds to make commercials. And with these commercials we could get the point across that casual sex isn't all harmless fun. We"ll be able to show how dangerous it can be to a person's body and future.
When I was younger I never knew what AIDS or an STD was. But one day I saw on the news that a famous basketball player had contracted AIDS, I had no idea what that meant. Soon thereafter an assembly was held at school discussing what AIDS and other STDs were and how they could be contracted. About a year ago I read in a magazine that despite people being urged to only participate in "safe" sex the number of people reported to have contracted an STD has gone up. This made me think of when I saw that a famous basketball player had AIDS, on the news. I also thought about that I couldn't remember the last time I had seen and AIDS awareness or warning about STDs on the TV or in a movie. So if the number of STDs is rising, I thought, then why are movies and shows still depicting casual sex as harmless fun. Television and movies are misleading viewers into thinking that "it's all good". Producers and writers should not only show that casual sex is good but also bad.
             Evaluation.
I believe the issue of how sex is depicted in shows and movies exists for most writers, directors, and producers who make the shows and movies it also is an issue for the public who watches these shows and movies. I know this because all I have to do is watch some TV and see how casual sex is depicted as harmless fun, I hardly ever see a program that shows the downsides to casual sex.
