Finding Forrester

             The movie Finding Forester was about a young black lad named Jamal Wallace that lived in an unfavorable area of New York, called the Bronx. Jamal was no ordinary kid, he was a brilliant student with exceptional basketball skill. How every this is not the area where Jamal excelled the most, his strongest attribute was his writing. Some would even compare it to the writings of a gentleman and a scholar named William forester, a character with and important roll in the movie. TO most William Forester represented the educated segment of society. William helps Jamal through his trials and tribulations to get through prep-school and the oppressive stereotyping that plagues him through the film.
             Living in the Bronx was not all ways easy for every one especially Jamal. Jamal excelled in most pastimes and school activates that he participated in, and all ways tried to advance him self in as many ways as possible. Weather it was writing in his note books or shooting hoops on the court. Still it was difficult for him to reach his full potential. After receiving Jamal's SAT test scores, no one would have guessed that he was as brilliant as he really was. Jamal never wanted to be singled out as an exceptional student in fear of being ridiculed by his class mates or worse his friends. So he did is best to keep the issue unnoticed. Once the issue was out in the open things started to open up for Jamal. .
             A recruiter from a preschool in the city had received Jamal's test scores and decided to pay him a visit. They talked with him and his mother a bit about the school and what it offers for exceptional students like Jamal. If Jamal was to attend this school there would be a full scholar ship for Jamal and a world of opportunities. Jamal took the offer and began the semester, but he didn't know what to expect for he was "the darker brother" (Hughes 76) in an uneasy situation.
