MEDGAR EVERS

THE THOUGHTS, IDEAS AND MOTIVATION OF MEDGAR EVERS TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT OF THE 1950's, 1960's, 1970's.
             MEDGAR EVERS.
Medgar Evers was motivated to do the work that he did for the civil rights movement by what he saw, what he experienced, and the observations he made during the time he served in World War Two. Other than that, his family and his wife, Myrlie Evers inspired him to persist in his fight for civil rights. Myrlie always stood by him, helping him when he needed it and being there when he needed her. All of these things added together gave Megdar Evers the views and beliefs that influenced the civil right movement as much as they did. .
People say that seeing is believing, and in the 1950's Medgar Evers got to see things that would give him the a viewpoint that influenced him greatly. .
"The impoverishment of the black people, in their hovels in town and their tenant shacks in the flatland, was wrenching and scrutable, as Medgar himself would learn first hand as an insurance salesman in the Delta in the early 1950's.We children of the middle class absorbed all this as mindlessly as we would the insects and fireflies in driftless random.these childhood and teenage years were poisoned, fragilely and inevitably, before Brown vs. Board of Education." .
             (Morris, 9).
Seeing the way the people lived and the children were living, gave Evers his point of view on segregated schools and how it was driving the black community to live in poverty because of the school systems.
On May 30, 1963 Evers got a glimpse of how the police themselves, the people paid to protect, felt about the civil rights movement. Two days prior an unidentified person threw a Molotov cocktail at Evers's house. Then, on the 30th some students on their lunch break began singing movement songs on the front lawn of the school's campus. Soon hundreds of more students soon joined them. Police officers arrived at the peaceful event with attack dogs and clubs, and proceeded to beat the students.
