Loss of the creature essay

The couple spends time there and comment on how great of a time they are having, but to prove to themselves that the trip is authentic, the couple requires the help of an ethnologist to prove their experience and to gain his approval. This loss of sovereignty is apparent, Percy argues, throughout our lives. Similarly, he connects these ideas to education. .
An education package is that which a student, who has a desire and passion to learn, receives from being taught by his educator. There are many medias that force the student to concentrate less on the material and more on the package surrounding it. For instance, the texture of the book from which the data is received, or atmosphere of the room in which the student sits in. Percy argues that many years after a student has learned something, it will be the smell of the teacher or the room, not the material, that he or she will remember. Similarly, Freire's argument that education is spoiled now can be greatly attributed to that statement. Percy would most likely agree with Freire in that education should be changed. He would probably say that since it is just learning the same information for every student in a similar way, then it is no wonder that students forget most of their school years after they graduate. The reason that students remember things such as the smell of the classroom is because each student takes it in differently. While one teen might remember the discomfort he felt sitting in his chair freshman year, another may remember the same room, but how cold it got that day in November. It is because the fact those students do get filled like containers, that they are able to forget the material, and remember the things that matter to them more. .
What should the students do about their education though? Percy's essay can serve almost as a solution to Freire's response. How does one stop the oppression caused by teachers in society's way of schooling? Get off the beaten track, Percy might respond.
