267). By providing situations where athletes experience perceived competence, it has been found to maximize intrinsic motivation among Greek exercisers (Georgiadis et al, 2001). Furthermore, research done with female and male high school students involved in physical education have found a positive relationship between the motivational climate and it's key role on improving intrinsic motivation (Ferrer-Caja, 2000). These findings confirm that task orientation, perceived competence and motivational climate are sources of intrinsic motivation. The purpose of this paper is to further examine the importace of task orientation, perceived competence and motivational climate on intrinsic motivation's effect on sport. .

Results and Discussion.
Importance of Task Orientation on Intrinsic Motivation.
Task Orientation has a direct correlation to intrinsic motivation. Task orientation increases intrinsic motivation whereas ego orientation diminishes it (Boyd et al, 2002). Task orientation believes that effort more than ability leads to success in sport, it deals with mastery of skills, cooperation and improvement. Ego orientation in comparison believes that ability rather than effort leads to success in sport, it is also more concerned with performance of others and outcomes (Boyd et al, 2002). In this study, female undergraduates enrolled in aerobic dance classes were the test subjects that took part in a series of studies. One of the purposes of this study was to discover the impact that task orientation and ego orientation play on intrinsic motivation.
