The ironic thing about it is that Iago it really his worst enemy. He also asked Iago to have his wife attend to her, which later becomes a very important detail.
Act 2 Scene 1: Desdemona.
DESDEMONA .
"O heavy ignorance! thou praisest the worst best.
But what praise couldst thou bestow on a deserving.
woman indeed, one that, in the authority of her.
merit, did justly put on the vouch of very malice itself?".
Desdemona while in the seaport of Venice said this quote above. She starts having a conversation with Iago, Emilia, and Cassio. During their friendly conversation, Iago starts to make fun of his wife by saying "She that was ever fair and never proud, Had tongue at will and yet was never loud, Never lack'd gold and yet went never gay, Fled from her wish and yet said 'Now I may- . She is very hurt because of his comments and in the quote, Desdemona sticks up for Emilia and defends her because she will not do it herself.
Act 2 Scene 1: Desdemona.

"O most lame and impotent conclusion! Do not learn.
of him, Emilia, though he be thy husband. How say.
you, Cassio? is he not a most profane and liberal.
counsellor?".
In this quote Desdemona starts getting angry with Iago because of all the bad things he is saying about his wife Emilia. She actually raises her voice and tells Emilia not to listen to him because he is wrong even though back then it was taught to listen to your husband. She also asks Cassio what he thinks about Iago's bold statements. This quote shows how Desdemona is a very out spoken women and sticks up for her friends. It shows that Iago is mean to his wife and foreshadows problems in the future.
Act 3 Scene 1: Iago.
