For example if the character was shot in the neck they would fall to their knees with a weary sound, if shot on or around a foot they would hobble around on the other foot moaning in so to speak pain, but worst of all if the character were to get shot in the face the reaction would be grasping the throat and falling to the ground further adding to the games realism
This is only one of the modern games that display such horrific acts of violence. .
Another good example of a modern game that displays such violence is the game counter strike. This is a game which I am very familiar with because I am one of those who bought the game because of its reality. In this game there are about twelve different outfits you can choose from all of which are military basic dress uniform. You have the choice to be either a terrorist or a counter-terrorist, along with both of these choices you may also purchase any type of weapon, ammunition and or Kevlar clothing for protection. Once you are ready to play you either plant the bomb if you are a terrorist or defuse the bomb if you are a counter-terrorist, in which during this time you may be shot or blown away by a grenade. If you are shot, blood splatters all over objects within a certain distance including the ground, hence the realism effect. Now I ask myself is this a high degree of violence? Yes. The silly thing is that these modern games may not have any more violence than those of previous years but rather introduced realism and graphics to a game that may have not been taken so violent at one time.
Even though these games contain a high degree of violence they may not be any worse than your nightly news in which very few people show any concern over that. More importantly, we must look at the relations between violent video game players and their social interaction to examine the affects.
Since the initial phase of video game activity in the early 1980's young males have consistently been the target creating a gender bias association with video and computer games.
