Adddictions started with the first human. Each individual may have a few dangerous or not dangerous ones. There are lots of types of addiction. Alcohol, drugs, smoking and gambling are most well known ones. Think about how you fell when something good happened for you, maybe your team wins a game, you are praised for somethingyou have done well, or you drink a cold coke ona hot day. In these conditions your barin feels natural pleasure so addictions can start when people want pleasure or want to forget bad events and addiction is something that people cannot stop doing and they feel they have biological obligation for their addictions. Dr. John marsden said "Lack of over the use of substances is indeed at the heart of what an addiction is " (bbc.co.uk, 1997) The most harmful addiction is type is drug, particulsrly cocaine. .
There are many more reasons why people become addicted. They can be family, economic, social, psycological, relationship problems and when they want to test a new thing. After the first use the more you drink , the more alcohol you need to get drunk; the more cocaine you take, the more drugs you need to get hig. Some drugs damage brain cells and they have many physical effects. On the other hand they can cause social problems for example a marriage may be ended by drugs. However addictions are treatable. Individulas can use a therapy programme or rehabilitation methods.
The first step to using drugs is smoking. Most of the drug users are regular smokers (Marsden, J. 1997). Ecstasy and marijuana come after smoking as asecond step. Then the human metabolism wants more and more so addicts start to use heroin and cocaine.(Eiseman, S.,,,,,,,,). "People may use drugs when they live a family whose relationships are filled with stress, phsical and psycological abuse , or lack of inerest, socially feel different fro others and isolated from their social rank and lost their stable relationships, have lass self-control, unstable self identity and low self awrness of their own emotions and experiances.
