The courses are an eight-week personal training school, a hands-on personal training workshop, an interactive home study program, as well as an advanced personal trainer certification course, which is offered only through colleges and universities. During the eight week personal training school, students will learn about everything from health screening and assessment to programs designed for multiple populations. Students will also participate in lab exercises each week. At the end of the eight-week school students will take the final test which they must make at least 70% on. Those who pass will earn the title of NCSF Certified Personal Trainer. Another way to is to complete the NCSF Workshop. Which after registering students are sent the material package, which has lecture notes, outlines, study guides and an interactive DVD Video. The study materials go over good health practices and prepares you for the actual workshop. Students are expected to know the material before going to the two day course to make it easier and to make sure the students know the minimal knowledge about human anatomy. The recommended time to study before attending the two day course is 4 to 6 weeks. The actual Certification Workshop is two days of lectures and hands-on training taught by college certified NCSF trainers. During the workshop, the students will review and put to practice what they learned at home study as in: make appropriate activity recommendations based on clients body type, preform various screening and fitness evaluations, learn proper training instruction for different exercises, and complete a metabolic analysis for weight management goals. The test is given on the second day of the workshop, it consists of 125 over Anatomy, Exercise Physiology, Health Screening and Exercise Testing, Nutrition and Weight Management, Exercise Prescription, Practical Applications, and Special Populations.
