Autobiography

 

            
             My name is Idania Sanchez, also known as Dana. I was born in Jersey City, NJ on March 13. I lived in Puerto Rico until I was 18. Then moved to Philadelphia, PA moving there was definitely a learning experience. When I was 19 years old I got married and I moved to Orlando, FL. Five (5) years later I got divorce. At the age of 27 my best friend died, my mother. Before she died she wished I finish college. In my mothers memory I registered at National Louis-University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Applied Behavior Sciences in 2002. During my college years, I remarried and had 2 children. In 1998 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and in 1999 I was diagnosed with breast. After a long journey I survived cancer and I have been in remission since 2001. Currently I am attending Troy State University pursuing a Masters in Psychology and Counseling.
             2. Reasons why the field of counseling was chosen and the events that have lead to this decision:.
             I always knew I wanted to help people. I want to make a difference in the world. I have a natural talent in helping others. I enjoyed touching others" lives, specially knowing that I have influenced or impacted somebody. I have had many obstacles in my life and it has been all a learning experience. We these experiences, I am able to benefit other people. The field of counseling is very fulfilling to me.
             Like mentioned before, I have had many obstacles in my life. Due to these experiences I am a much stronger person and very eager to help others while going through tough times in their life. I am a cancer survivor and I have so much compassion and willingness to help other people. Experiencing breast cancer has made me a very positive person and I want to share this experience. I want to share that keeping a positive attitude a person can overcome any obstacle.
