Reflection

At the beginning of the trimester when I wrote my goals paper, I was hoping to accomplish the three goals I had set out for. The goals were to have fun, to help kids learn and understand concepts more, and to be a good role model. I feel throughout the trimester I have accomplished these three goals.
I got to do a lot of one on one work with all the kids in the class. Some people may not like that kind of thing but I really enjoyed it. At the beginning of the trimester at times it was frustrating because I felt like anyway I tried to explain a concept, it just wasn't getting through. I was kind of disappointed in myself because I felt like I was doing a good job. But after the first couple days of working with them I saw improvement. They were finally grasping concepts. I not only noticed this, going through things verbally with them but I also noticed it when I looked at their homework and saw they all started to miss less and less questions. This was very inspiring.
Even though my main goal was to teach the kids, they ended up teaching me a little too. I learned not to give up, and that if something doesn't seem to be working, to just keep trying and things will eventually get better. Another goal I had was to have fun. I accomplished this goal also. I had fun talking with the kids and helping them understand different concepts. At the beginning of the trimester I wasn't really considering being a teacher I just though cadet teaching would be fun. But after this trimester I have started to reconsider it. I know what I did isn't like being a teacher but I realized I like teaching kids. I like seeing them improve. .
