Forming memories

I remember the day in which I had to get dressed and ready for school, it was the day where my new life in the United States would begin.
To be honest I was scared, frightened by the thought of a new beginning, in a different country where everything was new and different. It was a place where I had no friends or any belongings to call my own, except for a CD player, seven CD's, and the memories of Mexico, of friends, teachers and the people I loved. Although that could not matter then, because I had to be strong and hopeful of what was next. .
As I entered the school building, I could feel my heart pounding and my hands sweating, hoping that it would all soon pass. So the process began, I talked to the principle, we arranged my schedule, and I toured the school. And then I asked my self, what is next? When all I really hoped for was to go home to my friends and family and even my dog. So time went on and I went to class, without a purpose really, for two months until the end of my freshman year. And slowly everything began to make sense again, I began forming friendships and bonds with new people. .
And now that everything is normal, I have learned that life is continuously changing. I have learned to treasure what I have today so I can be ready for what there will be tomorrow. I believe that my return to the United States has showed me how people change. I now look back and realize that I too have changed, that I too have grown to be more understanding of why things happen. And now that the time comes where I must again change, where everything I have created until now will again become only memories. I face it not with fear and intimidation, but with pride and happiness. Because I know that college and my future education is the reason I was brought here, I am certain that I will keep the memories as I have in the past to create a stronger future as I continue to form more memories.
