Was but the mother of myself; but you.

"Annabel Lee" was written in 1849. It is about the love the author has for Annabel Lee. They loved each other so much that even the angels in heaven grew jealous of the love they had together. The angels grew so jealous of the love that they murdered Annabel Lee. However, this did not end the love the author had for Annabel Lee, in fact it made their bond grow stronger as the author now goes and lays by Annabel Lee's grave everyday to reinforce the love he had for her. This makes the angels more jealous and they are still angry over the love that the author has for Annabel Lee. The following passage shows the love the author has.
"But our love it was stronger by far than the love.
Of those who were older than we -.
Of many far wiser than we -.
And neither the angels in Heaven above.
Nor the demons down under the sea,.
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul.
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee: - ( E. A. Poe Society of Baltimore)".
