Nell

            
             Jodie Foster plays the role of a young woman named Nell, who speaks her own form of language and lives away from "civilization-. One day after finding a corpse in the woods of North Carolina, a doctor finds Nell in her home not far away from where they found the corpse. The doctor needed to find out the meaning of Nell's language or else she would have to go to a psychiatric hospital. Another person who goes out in the forest in order to understand Nell's language is a psychologist. Both the psychologist and the doctor have different views on how to help Nell. The psychologist places cameras all around Nell's home in order to record every word she says and every move she makes. On the other hand, the doctor goes into Nell's home in order to have a chat with her. At first glance, Nell is afraid of him. She starts to scream and runs away. But the doctor continues to go and see her in order to learn her language. The more he sees her live, the more he learns about the way she thinks. A few days later, he starts to have a simple conversation with her. Although he does not know very much about her, at least he can begin to understand what she tries to tell him. As I already mentioned, there is also a psychologist in the story, and her way of elucidating Nell's language is quite different from that of the doctor. For one, she hides cameras in Nell's house and from her boat she can see every move Nell makes. However, this does not help her much because she is not in contact with Nell, so she cannot really understand Nell's way of thinking. In this paper .

             I will explain Nell's way of thinking, how she stays connected to reality, how she uses her language and how doctor Jerry Lovell is able to communicate with her.
             First of all, we might be tempted to think that Nell has some sort of mental illness. However, the more we see her evolve, the more we understand why and how she reacts toward diverse people and the actions they make.
