            To judge a religion by the actions of a minority is unjust. Islam is not a religion of war, as it has been perceived to be by many. Our perception has been thoroughly misconstrued by the media and others. When we see a man walking down the street with a long beard and a scarf covering his head we automatically assume he's going to blow himself up or hijack a plane. We automatically assume a women covered up by clothing is being oppressed by the Islamic religion. And we automatically assume that Jihad is a holy war, meant to cause chaos and bring in Islamic supremacy. All these are assumptions not backed up by any knowledgeable facts. Our ignorance of the religion has led us to believe these things; which in fact are not Islamic and should not be thought of as Islamic. .
             The ideology of Islam can be found in the meaning of the word itself. Islam is very closely related to the Arabic word, salem which means peace. Islam is a religion based on doing well for one self in order to reach the pinnacle of the religion, which is to be one with God. The Islamic religion is that of peace, mercy and forgiveness and follows strict guidelines, none having to do with terrorism and violence. In fact, terrorist acts violate the Islamic code. The Quran does not justify those types of actions; instead it condemns those who act in a terrorist manner. Killing innocent bystanders, especially women and children can lead to banishment from paradise according to the Prophet Muhammad. Therefore, if .

             The Islamic principles make it a religion worth believing in. The moral code of Islam strives for man to find a virtuous system that he can do well and live his life by. It is meant for man to get rid of all that is harmful and let in all that is good and virtuous.
