An Examination of Effective Teaching Methods Within

Maybe boys are encouraged more than girls to take up sport in school. From personal experience I can remember arriving at my new secondary school as one of the tallest students in the year. The first question asked when introduced to one of the P.E teachers was, Do you play rugby boy?' He was obviously interested in enhancing the reputation of the rugby team, but maybe inadvertently putting pressure on many male students at the same time. Within school there is also another aspect that may encourage males rather than females to take part in sports. That is the macho' image that the males believe they will gain, as well as the admiration of the females. .
As in most subjects, there are a variety of different personality types among the students. If there were one common trait, however, it would be that almost all of the students are motivated because of a shared personal interest in one sport or another, and that they actively take part in a sport of some kind. Because of this fact, many young adults studying Sports Science do so in order to try and become the very best at whichever sport in which they are involved. This can be achieved by understanding how your body works; why it works as it does; how to train for maximum benefit; and how to develop your skills towards your full potential, as well as numerous other areas within the relatively new subject of Sports Science.
Other learners are motivated by the prospect of gaining a job in sports coaching or becoming a personal trainer. This could involve travelling overseas or even living overseas where the salaries and standards of living far exceed those of the U.K. Personal trainers and sports coaches in North America, for example, can receive excellent wages maybe due to the fact that there is a greater awareness of the need of sports science as a vital part of sport. Whether it is American Football or downhill skiing there is a great need for Sports Scientists, Physiotherapists and coaches, to understand, for example, why an athlete is getting injured or how the long - distance athlete can go that little bit further.
