            There are 14 lines divided into 4 parts or stanzas each is consisted of 3 lines of poetry and the last 2 lines are like the sonnet's couplet ,that is 2 end-rhymed lines .The meter as I think is Iambic Pentameter .The rhyme scheme is :'ababcbcdcdadee'.There is a repetition of many wards and phrases,the wards are like :"I have,rain,city,night",and the phrase that is being repeated at the beginig and at the end is :"I have been one acquainted with the night" . .
             The general tone is gloomy ,tragic and skeptic .The persona seems to be a person who is philosophical and seeing himself in dramatic light .He is the new conscious man who is aware of his moving towards the modern age and thus he became more skeptic and melancholic .The theme is about the modern coming dilemma which will create this new consciousness for this poem is important in terms of that he paved the way to Modernism .
             The narrator says he has been "acquainted" with the "night" meaning he has been through a lot of tough times. "saddest city lane" means the saddest part of life. "watchman" is God. "feet" is the sound of others progressing on the figurative "road of life" and the "cry" is someone struggling in life, the "clock" presents and image of time. that tels us how much longer will have to live our life. the time not bring "roght or wrong" means that there is no right or wrong path in life. it could suggest that the narator believes in fate, that all the paths you took, you took for a reason. .
