Rebirth

After Felipe reads an article for a position of a historian and once he found the house he notices this first thing:.
"You gaze at the fanciful vines carved over the doorway, then lower your eyes to the peeling wall and discover 815, formerly 69."" (p.11).
Here we see that there is change right from the beginning in terms of the house in which Consuelo lives in. The numbers mean something that would bring about suspicion of reincarnation or change for that matter. In terms of symbols, the number 815 can also add up to the number 14 which stands for justice and temperance, while the number 69 has much to do with erotica and the erotic sense with emphasis with the devil. The difference is the fact that since Consuelo loved her husband, General Llorente, that was the number 69 and the love that she felt for him, as for the number 815 or 14, it goes for the feelings that Consuelo has towards her deceased husband which Felipe resembles so much. This will be discussed at a later time in the paper. After the symbolic view of the numbers on the house there is something that caught my eye as Felipe was walking into the house itself, .
"You rap vainly with the knocker, that copper head of a dog, so worn and smooth that it resembles the head of a canine fetus in a museum of natural science.""(11).
This dog in a shape of a fetus can mean that Felipe is entering a place in which he will be born again as a different person or the same person but with a different point of view in life and in morals. These reasons have strong meaning in terms of the reincarnation of all the characters based around Consuelo and her feelings for her husband. .
In the Aura we notice the strong relationship between Consuelo and her companion, niece or younger-self, Aura. There are many ways in which Carlos Fuentes himself points out the correlation between the young and the old. Yet the young and the old are connected by some magic that is carried on by another, a rabbit: "Suddenly the rabbit jumps down and disappears in the shadows.
