In Costa Rica children since early ages work but sometimes they are exploited , these children belong to the group that varies ages within 5 to 11 years. They also conform nearly 87% of the children who are affiliated to the C.C.S.S. in Costa Rica however, there are two other groups which are children and teens that conform the other two groups and are also affiliated to the C.C.S.S. The second group is made up of children and teens from the ages of 12 to 14 who according to statistical make up an 86,5%, finally there is a group made up of teens that belong to the ages of 15 to 17 and make up 86,2% of the population of working lower class children and teens (Ministerio de Trabajo); nevertheless in Manchester children at the early ages of their life started to work and were exploited in the factories.
Manchester resembles Costa Rican working conditions because in both cities a person didn't receive the proper education, most likely they would end up in a factory, or selling objects in the streets and the worker would get paid a very low salary. Both of the cities have workers that their life span is reduced. They have laws against child labor nowadays, but similar to other countries the law isn't enforced, but child labor is still illegal.
Manchester's living conditions contrast with San Jose's living conditions. Manchester differs from San Jose because Manchester lacked or had no sanitary codes, nor building codes, making this impossible to control the growth of the city and the population; meanwhile San Jose has satisfactory sanitary codes and plans for almost everything. There are many houses in the central valley in San Jose, most of these houses are decent, but some are not, some are clean and owned by hard working people, these houses usually have 2-3 rooms; likewise there are houses with one room where whole families live like in Manchester which had hard working people that lived in dark with dirty shelters.
