The Native American life was the way of living the perfect life. She touches many different types of ways of discrimination such as gender, sexuality and race. But she mostly explains how it was even harder for her to be a woman with a mix culture, being half white and Native American. But being brought up the Native way she was taught how it was wrong to discriminate anyone for any reason. "To the pueblo way of thinking, the act of comparing one living being with another was silly, because each living being or thing is unique and therefore incomparably valuable because it is the only one of it kind."( page 144.) .
There are more differences then similarities in these works of writing. In "Mother Catherine" and "Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit" are similar in there beliefs of childbirth whether it's before or out of a marriage. Now a days if a woman has a child before marriage or out of marriage, she would be looked upon and judge to the most extent. Mother Catherine "Mother Catherine's religion is matriarchal. Only God and the mother counts. Childbirth is the most important element in the creed. Her Compound is called the Manger, and is dedicated to the birth of children in or out of wedlock." (page 104) She shows how childbirth is welcomed to this world even if its out of wedlock, she also states that it no one business but the mother and god therefore no judgment show be made. She also damns abortion, in life today many woman turn to abortion just to avoid being judged, therefore today abortion wouldn't be considered as a solution or even thought of. Yellow Woman and a Beauty of the Spirit "New pregnancy was always appropriate, and pregnancy before marriage was celebrated as a good sign" (page 146) She believed that getting pregnant before marriage wasn't an immense problem where as for reality it is, is consider a sinful act in many religious beliefs. Where a women is criticize tremendously upon her act, she might even be consider a low.
