" Just shows that others that knew him knew that he just wanted power. Mussolini just pushed for his power and eventually got it but not to the extent he wanted it. He was led by his ego always wanting more power.
Because of Mussolini being raised in a religious household were he didn't feel he fit in and his bad experience of his schooling at Salesians ( a private Romanga school) Mussolini fought against the church. He became an atheist in his youthful age and also put down anti-Catholic pamphlets called "Life of Hus" and "The Cardinal's Mistress". He would often criticize the church and say that Catholicism wasn't just untenable from the intellectual point of view but was also immoral. When Mussolini was in power he wanted complete control over the church but eventually failed. He wanted to get rid of the peoples religious beliefs but was unable to. He first didn't realize the great influence the church had on the Italian life. After realizing this he knew there would be many Italians who would try get him out of the country. So Instead of trying to take control over the church, he tried to work with the church so he could have some say in it. He made it so that all the church activities would be controlled by the state and the church had to agree to cut back on all religious activities unless absolutely necessary for purely religious ends. Musulini had failed in trying to seize control over the church and instead tried to work with the church to maintain his power, changing his views. .
Mussolini was a man who allways changed his opinion on things so the public would love what he said and inturn get him more powerful. In 1909 he Mussolini was offered a position to be the secretary of the chamber of labour for the socialist trade unions. People say that he was the crucial secretary the union had ever had. But because musolini was getting no were after six months he decided to leave and became a sub editor of the daily newspaper were he could express his socialist views.
