Cause of World War 1

 

The assassin was believed to be to have ties with a terrorist group in Serbia, this led to the conclusion that the Serbian government was behind the murder . The idea behind the actions of Gavrilo Princip, is that his cause was of nationalist intentions. This triggered/sparked war between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. It was the beginning of World War One.
             There are many causes that contributed to the beginning of World War One.
             There are four causes that stand out the most , the rise of nationalism, military build up , new technologies, and the system of military alliances . Other minor causes would include, industrialization, no international body, and the concept of honor. The most significant of these would be the rise of nationalism. It was nationalism that led to most of the other causes.
             There was a great increase of nationalism developing. Nationalism swept across the continent, which was responsible for the the first World War. Nationalism involved all those who shared a common language , history and culture. The goals of each of the nations got into the conflict with the views of others, which led to the threat of war. Nationalism promoted the expansion of pre-existing armies and building up military power to obtain their goals by force.
             The destructive capabilities of army's were greatly increased with new technological weapons of war. New guns were developed over time, machine guns and more accurate guns were invented . Tanks , air planes , poisonous gas, and submarines soon joined the war. Steamships and railroads quickly allowed the movement of army foot soldiers to become more rapid. The ability to develop these new products was due to industrialization. Their nationalistic interests motivated them. The nationalist wanted to defend their goals and interest with these weapons.
             It is possible to say that nationalism was the major factor that contributes to the warfare.
