This is where Isaac meets the one and only love of his life, Mr. Clark's stepdaughter Miss Storey. Sorry to say Isaac became so engrossed in his studies that she married someone else and Isaac from then on in was always single. Also Mr. Clark provided the first stimulus to his interest in chemistry. While in school for the first few months he was ranked second to last in a class of eighty. "His school reports describe him as "idle" and "inattentive"". One day before school, One of Isaac's classmates kicked him in the stomach which really tempted Isaac to get revenge. After school he approached the kid with great determination and humiliated his classmate by literally rubbing his face against the church's wall. After that day, Isaac turned his act around and became the top of his class. After Hannah returned home because her husband had passed away she decided to take Isaac away from school so he could learn the ways of a land owner. Being extremely irritated, he would not cooperate with his mother and run off to read books. Isaac's uncle William Ayscough persuaded Hannah the right thing to do was to let Isaac prepare for entering the university. He returned the to village school where he completed his education and proceed onto Cambridge's Trinity College. Before Isaac entered college, Strokes, the headmaster of the school put Isaac on the right track to help guide him through college by giving him private lessons and a solid foundation. This little bit of tutoring from Strokes affected Isaac for the rest of his life. For example, as I was growing up, my parents taught me the difference between "right" and "wrong". This simple but essential aspect of life changes everything. If this is not taught to kids at a young age, it's tough to develop. Despite Hannah's wealth, Isaac was enrolled as a sizar, which was a student who received an allowance toward college expenses in return for acting as a servant.
