Driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the most dangerous things you can do in the world today. Driving under the influence of alcohol not only puts you and your passengers in danger, it also puts other pedestrians in danger. Drinking alcohol causes you to have double vision, slurred speech, poor coordination, and many other things that make you unable to operate a vehicle properly.
Of all the causes of drinking and driving, pure ignorance is the worst. Most of the time when people go out, they don't designate a driver who is not going to drink. This means someone is going to have to drive under the influence of alcohol. When people go out separately there are other factors that come into play. If someone goes out by his/her self then they cant have a designated driver. This is when a friend should step in and take the keys of this person but in many cases this doesn't happen. Once again causing someone to drive under the influence of alcohol.
The consequences of drinking under the influence of alcohol can be very severe. You can spend almost any amount of time in jail, you can lose your drivers license, pay heavy fines, and (the ultimate consequence) you can take a life. More than 5,000 young adults die every year in car accidents. Drinking and driving has a huge effect on this number. .
You might not believe it, but every 30 minutes someone dies in an alcohol related accident. Every 30 minutes a family has lost a love one in a alcohol related accident. In many cases, the person who is at fault in the accident, which is the person that was under the influence, isn't the one who loses his/her life. It's hard to believe but it almost always works out this way. When this happens the driver who had been drinking will get punished. Not only will this person get in trouble for drinking and driving but this person will also more than likely be charged with murder. Proving that the consequences of drinking and driving are great, along with its effects.
