We had decided to name it Freeze Webhosting, the reasoning behind this is that we already owned Freeze2k.com and did not want to have to buy another domain [web address]. All of this went well for the first month. .
Soon we decided to try to make some money, so we signed up for an Affiliate program. The program worked much like TV commercials do, companies put ads onto our sites, and our users sites, and every time someone clicked an ad we were paid a nickel. At first, it didn't seem like much, but as you will soon see, it adds up. For the next two months I learned a lot more about computers and the Internet than I would have any other way - with a real life experience. There were a lot of people trying to rip us off, people putting up illegal programs, and people removing ads from their site. I ended up designing software to scan the entire site for things like this and it ended up working out well. .
Then someone decided to try to hack our business, someone from Mexico got into our computer and re-routed everything to "fbi.gov". He then proceeded to bomb [bombing sends to much information to a computer and makes it crash] our server, which made our server bomb "fbi.gov" needless to say; this caused a lot of confusion that I won't get into. .
After we finally cleared that up, we decided we needed to put up more advertising about our little business. By then we had about 300 users, enough to break even [monthly costs were between $1200 and $1800]. We paid out $500 to have a professional service advertise for us. It turned out the advertising was a little bit too much for our little business - within 2 weeks we had gone from 300 users to about 1,500 users. I ended up re-writing pretty much 50% of the software made for the users so it could handle large amounts of people. We were now making a little money, about $500 per month. I started receiving checks then for about $200, not much when you consider I did about 80% of the work, I guess I didn't really mind right then.
