             Expectations about when hiring will rebound differed between surveyed employees and human-resources managers. While 42% of responding employees chose "three to six months" as the expected timeframe for improvement in the employment market, only 23% of HR managers said the same. .
             What were the reasons most commonly cited by employees for wanting to change jobs? A desire for better pay and benefits led the way, at 53%. Concerns about career development and a desire for a new experience came in a distant second and third, at 35% and 32%, respectively. .
             Employment Satisfaction: In the Doldrums .
             Job satisfaction is declining as employees face increasing demands and pressures, with less than half of Americans reporting that they are happy with their current positions. .
             According to the Conference Board, job satisfaction has fallen to its lowest level since 1995, which is when the business-research organization first produced its survey on the subject. Demands on professionals have risen even as wage increases have become more moderate and bonuses less common, the survey found. .
             Satisfaction levels tend to be higher among those with higher earnings. However, satisfaction levels have declined significantly among professionals from households with the highest earnings -- from 66.5% in 1995 to 53.4% this year -- whereas workers from households with the lowest earnings reported satisfaction levels of 45.4% both this year and eight years ago. .
             By age, workers in the 45- to 54-year-old group reported the lowest level of employment satisfaction, at 46%.
