Gap Inc.'s goal over the next few years is to allow technology enhancements to further improve their supply chain. To accomplish this Gap Inc. is "working on significant upgrades to their systems and processes, ultimately giving them greater flexibility and real-time visibility to how they manage inventory worldwide-(Annual Report, pg. 9).
Mission Statement.
In the process of looking for Gap Inc.'s mission statement there were many barricades that resulted in a detour. The fact that Gap Inc. is made up of Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and the many different division of Gap there is not a formal mission statement for Gap Inc. However a bit of information regarding the reasoning for no formal mission statement was uncovered. After talking with an employee of Gap at Rivertown Mall in Grandville, MI we were informed that the divisions of Gap Inc. all have their own seasonal mission statements that are changing all of the time with the main focus on clothing. Gap's present seasonal mission statement reads as follows, "Gap will be the style authority around the world. For casual apparel and accessories driven by our denim and khaki leadership. Our brand will inspire customers to confidently and easily express their personal style in an everyday cool way-(James).
Due to the absence of a formal mission statement, our group has come up with what we think Gap Inc.'s mission statement should be. It is as follows:.
Gap Inc. is a leading international specialty retailer, offering clothing, accessories and personal care products for men, women, children, and babies under their strong brands: Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy. We strive to deliver the merchandise and shopping experience our customers expect and deserve by offering them stores at three different levels, Old Navy-"Fun, Fashion, and Value-, Gap-"classic clothing into must-have fashions- and Banana Republic-"Sophisticated yet relaxed and easy-.
