End Stage Kidney Disease

End Stage kidney Disease is a complete or near complete failure of the kidneys to function, to excrete wastes, concentrate urine, and regulate electrolytes. Other common names for End Stage kidney disease are Renal failure, end stage, Kidney failure, or ESRD. End Stage kidney disease occurs when the kidneys are no longer able to function at a level that is necessary for day to day life. It usually occurs as chronic renal failure that progresses to the point where kidney function is less than 10% of baseline. At this point the kidney function is so low that without dialysis or kidney transplantation, complications will be multiple and severe and death will occur from accumulation of fluids and waste products in the body. What is dialysis? Dialysis is a method of removing toxic substances from the blood when the kidneys are unable to do so. Dialysis is most frequently used for patients who have kidney failure but is also used when hospitals receive patients who are overdosed on drugs and need to cleanse their blood fast. With ESKD there are many risks and complications I am going to make a bullet list below so it is clear and easy to read.
